Holiday Mulled Coffee Recipe

You may have heard of mulled wine, maybe even mulled cider, but have you heard of mulled coffee?

A tale as old as time— or the second century at least— mulled wine is a traditional alcoholic beverage. The mulling refers to warming, sweetening and adding spices to a beverage. It is a staple in the winter months, especially around the holiday season. Although it is most popular with wine, you can mull anything you like—including Malu’s specialty coffee!

Malu’s The Classic is a dark-medium roast, the perfect base for a mulled coffee. Here is how we created this year’s favorite wintery beverage:

Ingredients

  • One Malu The Classic dark-medium roast specialty coffee pouch
  • One orange
  • Three cinnamon sticks
  • Three tablespoons sugar or sweetener of choice
  • One cup of water

You’ll want to create a mulled syrup to add to your coffee. You can start by boiling one cup of water and adding three cinnamon sticks, two halves of an orange, and three tablespoons of sugar or your sweetener of choice. *Warning* This will make your home smell delicious and quite possibly prevent you from leaving your cozy, winter haven.

Once the syrup has simmered and thickened, you can strain the mixture into your coffee cup.

Brew your Malu specialty pour over coffee per the instructions on the back of the pouch. Discard the filter, stir, and enjoy!

We take no responsibility for how many snowmen and snowball fights you’re going to miss out on after falling in love with this mulled coffee recipe. You have been warned ☃️
